4 JENIS KASIH

Tema sentral dalam surat 1 Korintus 13 adalah Kasih.  Definisi kasih dijabarkan secara sederhana dan rinci oleh rasul Paulus.  Allah adalah Kasih; Barangsiapa tidak mengasihi, ia tidak mengenal Allah, demikianlah Firman Tuhan –

1 Yohanes 4:8.

Dalam bahasa Yunani, Alkitab mengenal empat jenis Kasih:

1.      Agape – kasih tertinggi, yaitu Kasih Allah.

“Karena begitu besar kasih Allah akan dunia ini, sehingga Ia telah mengaruniakan Anak-Nya yang tunggal, supaya setiap orang yang percaya kepada-Nya tidak binasa, melainkan beroleh hidup yang kekal”

– Yohanes 3:16.

2.      Phileo – Kasih Persaudaraan/Persahabatan; kasih antar sesama.

“Peliharalah kasih persaudaraan” – Ibrani 13:1.

Kasih persaudaraan harus ada di antara kita: sesama jemaat, anggota tubuh Kristus.  Dunia mengajarkan, “kasihilah saudaramu, tetapi bencilah musuhmu”. Tetapi Tuhan Yesus mengajar saudara dan saya justru untuk “mengasihi musuhmu”.

Puji Tuhan, Orang Kristen dikenal sebagai orang yang penuh kasih:

“Dengan demikian semua orang akan tahu, bahwa kamu adalah murid-murid-Ku, yaitu jikalau kamu saling mengasihi” – Yohanes 13:35.

3.      Storge – Kasih antara orangtua dan anak-anak, atau antara saudara kandung.

“Hendaklah kamu saling mengasihi sebagai saudara dan saling mendahului dalam memberi hormat” – Roma 12:10.

4.      Eros – Lebih pada ketertarikan secara fisik; kasih antara pasangan kekasih
   atau suami isteri.  Dari kata ini kita mengenal kata ‘erotis’.

Level 1	Eros		I Corinthians 7:8-9 = (8)But to the unmarried people and to the widows, I declare that it is well (good, advantageous, expedient, and wholesome) for them to reman [single] even as I do.
			(9) But if they have not self-control (restraint of their passions), they should marry. For it is better to marry than to be aflame
			[with passion and tortured continually with ungratified desire].
